As a
member of an entrepreneurial family, Charu made
her mark in the field of higher education. Along
with Apollo International Inc., she developed
a unique model of higher education suited specifically
for the emerging needs of developing India. The
first centre of the Western International University,
inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Delhi state,
has had a resounding success.
Charu
has closely worked with organizations such as Caron
Foundation and Neuro Linguistic Programming,
Decker Communication and Aspen Group to pioneer
an educational model that successfully trains
and prepares Indian health care workers to work
in a Western culture. This has helped
her launch her company Healthcare Placements
India Pvt Limited. She is now successfully training
nurses to work for the US and UK markets. The pilot
phase of this model has won international accolades
as being the first of its kind in Asia.
Charu's work
has been published in leading newspapers and
journals such as the Economic Times and Abhigyan
(Asia’s leading journal in Organization
and Management Studies). The Delhi Management
Association (DMA) invited her as a Guest of Honour
in a Higher Education Summit organized to deliberate
on Management education in India. Her current
research interests include the study of 'Migration
of Paramedical Staff from India to Post Industrial
West - a select diagnostic analysis'.
Charu
is the eldest grandchild of Rai Bahadur GujarMal
Modi, who pioneered many industries in Modinagar
and established 25 educational institutions ranging
from junior high schools to post-graduate educational
institutions. Charu was educated at Lady Shriram
College, New Delhi and Thunderbird.
