RES 601 Applied Thesis Fundamentals (1 Credit)
RES 601 is a one-credit course, conducted during a full
session (two months). A letter grade is awarded after completion of the course. Note the following requirements:
Enroll through your academic counselor.
Select your Thesis Advisor or one will be
appointed by the RES 601 instructor.
Complete a detailed thesis outline and
have your advisor sign and submit it to your RES 601 instructor.
RES 785 Applied Thesis Seminar (3 Credits)
RES 785 is the last course of the graduate program. It is a full-session two-month course, with the option
of extension of two months. Note the
following requirements:
Make a minimum of nine student/faculty contacts.
Additional contacts can be made during any extensions.
Attend the Information and Scheduling Meeting,
which counts as one of the nine required contacts. Bring
a complete and signed Formal Professional Applied Thesis
Presentation Approval Form to schedule your presentation
date. (If the form is not completed and presented at this
meeting, you will be required to attend the next Information
and Scheduling Meeting to schedule your presentation.)
Attend four Applied Thesis presentations,
which count as four of the nine required contacts. You
must arrive for presentations on time or risk not being
admitted. (You may attend presentations prior to the enrollment
in RES 785. However, these do not count toward's the
required four contacts once you enroll.)
Present your Applied Thesis on the date scheduled,
which counts as one of the nine required contacts. Contact
the Student Services cell to reserve any AV equipment you
wish to use well in advance of your presentation. (If an
emergency arises, and you have to reschedule your presentation,
you must contact your academic counselor.)
Your thesis must meet all requirements as outlined in the Applied Thesis Guidebook.
You must also submit three bound copies of your written
thesis and a copy on diskette, along with a completed End
of Course Survey.
To extend the course, you must initiate the first extension
prior to the end of the initial session, with the approval
by your Thesis Advisor and an Extension Form completed
and submitted. You must initiate the second extension prior
to the end of the first extension, with the approval of
your advisor, paperwork completed and submitted.
